One of my very wise, helpful editors suggested I include some pictures of myself in the book. For readers who don’t already know me, this could help make the author more conceivable.
Here’s one I decided on. Below is the caption. In the book it comes right after a section entitled, “Don’t you dare wait around for someone to rescue you.”
One of the extra special bonus features of Lupus can be photosensitivity (where the sun triggers sometimes severe symptoms.) But thanks to my quick work in the Target Sporting Goods Department, I am still enjoying the beach (or at least a 4 foot polygon of it.) Don’t wait around for someone to find you a solution. Just make it happen.
